Taw Associates (TA) have been developing a cost effective tagging system that can ascertain who (or what) is where and when, by embedding QR reading code within Excel. The system can be adapted to a number of roles from a stock control system - providing remote access to live stock levels or as a personnel security logging system such as used on exclusion zones. In all scenarios, the system links QR Reader VBA code on selected laptop/pcs at security gates/stock control which, with a webcam connected, enables the pc/laptop to acts as an ID card scanner, creating a log of the unique ID codes

The main control screen can be set to automatically update (read in new text files) at any given time interval. In the demolition exclusion zone example shown below, the dashboard can show the controller everything from who is in or out, when they left, how to contact them, to the power left in the control gate laptops.

If desired the PC/Laptop can run a small wireless network (MiFi) so that any authorised smartphone nearby (on that wireless network) can act as a scanner. This information is automatically sent as a small text file via the internet/intranet to a control system that can be set to automatically read all txt files sent into a central database and check for duplicate readings and map who or what is where at any particular time.
